National Breast Cancer Foundation CEO joins The George Institute

The George Institute for Global Health has announced that Susan Murray, outgoing General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Australian National Breast Cancer Foundation is to join The George Institute as Executive Director of The George Foundation in February 2011.

Susan Murray leaves the National Breast Cancer Foundation as its General Manager and Chief Executive Officer after a decade at the helm. During her time with the National Breast Cancer Foundation she has grown the Foundation’s income base from less than $1 million to $20 million in just ten years. Prior to her role at the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Susan was Executive Director for the Leukaemia Foundation (NSW) and Executive Director of the AMA (NSW) Charitable Foundation.

Commenting on her appointment, Susan Murray said, “I’m delighted to be taking up this position with The George Institute and look forward to supporting its global work on the prevention and management of the world’s most pressing health problems - chronic diseases and injury. I’m confident that my experience in developing fundraising and philanthropy for the National Breast Cancer Foundation will translate well into leading the work of The George Foundation to support the vast array of medical and health research that The George Institute is undertaking throughout the world.”
