What inspires you in the work you do?
Where I live, and in the surrounding communities, there has been an increase in the prevalence of NCD’s. It has motivated me to focus on the research of NCD’s because it is very important issue in my local community. The positive impact of the work that The George Institute does in research of non-communicable diseases is of great benefit to our local community. It inspires me to continue the work, and help people in the community around me. I am happy implementing new and innovative research projects in the field and on a community level.

What do you enjoy most about working at The George Institute?
The George Institutes’ central focus is on the quality of research and project planning. This creates and encourages an environment of high impact research of which I am proud to be a part of. The George Institute Australia also offers valuable support and resources for us in India, which we hope to reflect in our own research projects.

What projects you been involved with at The George Institute?
I have worked on several great projects like SMARTHealth India and the cardiovascular disease program, with a focus on current trends in adolescent health and social media and new technologies.

My biggest achievement so far…..
I was nominated for a John Hopkins School of Public Health Leadership Program by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare from the Government of India. Another big achievement would be being a part of team who has got “Best practices in Tobacco control from Andhra Pradesh state” appreciations from various stakeholders who work with tobacco control and non-communicable diseases in India. This has meant I have been able to create a strong stakeholder network in the state for tobacco control initiatives and well as implementing large scale tobacco control media campaigns in the state in both print and electronic media.

To unwind at the end of the day I….
I do Pranayama (traditional yoga) and go for an evening walk for 30 minutes after my work in the evening.
