About The George Institute India
The George Institute India is a not-for-profit Indian research institute and has been conducting research related activities in India since 2002. The George Institute India’s mission mirrors that of the parent organisation, namely the discovery and implementation of solutions to chronic and disabling health problems through research, policy development, impact and capacity building.
A number of large-scale projects in population, health systems and clinical research, funded by a diverse group of sponsors, both public and private, are conducted in India. TGI has two offices, in Hyderabad and New Delhi, where the research staff and senior management are based. In addition, we have field offices in many locations in both urban and rural locations.
Context and Role
The George Institute has embarked on a new 6-year strategy. Underpinned by ambitious research and impact goals, the Institute plans significant expansion of its existing research programs as well as establishment of new programs and growth of expertise in new areas. The Institute has made a strategic decision to create Centre for Operational and Research Excellence (CORE), a dedicated vehicle with broad responsibility for playing a central role in effective delivery of Institute’s research strategy globally. In close collaboration with CORE global team based in Australia and the Executive Director, the George Institute India, Head of CORE India will be responsible for leading the CORE team in India supporting delivery of Institute’s strategy in the region. The key role of CORE India is to ensure effective and high quality delivery of each research program in the region from its design to its outputs including identifying and securing funding, providing timely and cutting-edge statistical services, pragmatic data management solutions and robust project operations services.
The QA Officer will ensure and support quality assurance measures for all projects in India office. They will help in developing SOPs, policy, guidelines and work instructions in collaboration with CORE global and CORE India staff and researchers. S/he will ensure that standardized process and streamlined workflows are enabled to support research activity and researchers. QA Officer will also support data management and research operations across the institute in collaboration with CORE global and CORE India.
Reporting Relationships
The role directly reports to Head CORE India. The role will also work in close collaboration with CORE global QA Manager, CORE global and CORE India teams.

Duties and Key Responsibilities
The QA Officer Core India would be expected to
- Support the review of Policies and SOPs, Work Instructions and related ADs, and adjust to meet regional requirements through feedback towards improvements
- Encourage and promote awareness and knowledge of quality assurance and initiatives
- Work with the Global Quality Assurance Coordinator and across other TGI regions to learn from each other (e.g gap analysis, quality framework, improvements and governance) • Support development of regulatory documentations, ethics meetings and research operational activities supported by CORE India
- Provide Quality Assurance feedback or issues to the QA governing committee
- Work with researchers to maintain annual compliance of the Research Code of Conduct Policy through creating awareness and mandatory training. • Fulfil the role of the Research Integrity Officer (RIO) in any complaints, working with the Global Quality Assurance Manager, Head of CORE and Director of CORE.
- Support and maintain annual compliance for specific research operations requirements (e.g NHMRC, NIH, Conflict of Interest reporting , GDPR compliance)
- Establish the risk management process in the region including risk review and escalations
- Support the use of SPoT and ensure the quality of the data in SPoT data to be accurate, up-to date and complete
- Involve in the training of the SPoT databases (Projects, Funding, Publications and others) in the region
- Escalation of issues related to compliance, risk and breaches of the research code of conduct to the Quality Assurance Manager
- Support research projects on Quality Assurance processes essential to Data Management and Statistics Analysis
The QA Officer CORE India would be expected to:
- Engage with researchers and support streamlined work flows and processes across research activity
- Engage with other supporting divisions to create a supporting framework and culture of working together
- Be able to support research administration and operations activities in CORE
As a Team Member:
- Be supportive to research activities and being proactive to find well defined and acceptable solutions for problems
- Be self driven and update line Manager and QA coordinator in CORE global regularly
- Participate in team meetings and activities relating to CORE global and CORE India and own work area;
- Participate in special projects to improve processes, tools, systems and organisation;
- Take responsibility for personal learning and development and for setting achievable and meaningful work objectives and managing personal targets, meeting obligations of the Institute’s Performance Management and Development Policy;
- Demonstrate commitment to GI’s values, including performing to an exceptionally high ethical standard and focus on integrity, collaboration and teamwork in all efforts.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience
- Qualifications: Postgraduation in public health, health management, management, quality assurance preferred
- Experience of at least 1-2 years in Quality Assurance in academic research organization preffered
- Demonstrated capability to produce outcomes and achieve objectives within agreed time periods;
- Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and proven strategic thinking;
- Demonstrated resourcefulness, with ability to influence others to achieve common goals;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with high level of proficiency in English and the ability to work well autonomously;
- Excellent team-work skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate in small teams and with a wide range of varying stakeholders;
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and to be adaptable to changing organisational priorities and ambiguous environments;
- Strong focus on producing the highest quality of work and on ensuring optimum accuracy of outputs;
- Well organised and efficient, with the capacity to work under pressure;

Fixed term (Duration): Fixed term: 12 months (with scope for longer extension based on availability of funds and performance appraisal)
