Primary health care for all
SMARThealth is just one example of our work transforming primary health care. It is a mobile-based clinical decision support system for primary health care with demonstrated impact on the health of thousands of people.
SMARThealth was developed in response to the insufficient focus placed on the quality of healthcare in the push for universal health coverage. Of the 8.6M deaths in lower and middle-income countries in 2016, 5M (58%) were estimated as due to poor quality health care, compared to 3.6M due to poor access to, or non-utilisation of, healthcare.
Utilising SMARThealth we empower non-physician health care workers, mostly local female community members, to deliver consistent high quality and tailored primary health care to their communities.
