Why we do it

The Indian health system grapples with multiple challenges - the big ones being a lack of access, shortage of human power, high costs, uneven quality and poor accountability.

A large section of the Indian population remains disenfranchised from receiving even the most basic essential care. Each year, hundreds of thousands of people are pushed into extreme poverty because of unexpected out-of-pocket health expenses.

The George Institute approach focuses on generating high-quality evidence aimed to ensure delivery of better care and better treatments, leading to healthier societies.

Through our programs of research, advocacy/thought leadership, and disruptive social entrepreneurship, we are driving impact on quality of life and health outcomes.

We operate globally and locally to target the biggest health problems plaguing our time.
